Kursus Kepimpinan Gerak Kerja WUC 2011

Assalamualaikum dan salam sejahtera kepada pembaca. Alhamdulillah, dengan kerjasama YBhg. Datuk Shariff Hamid dan Sekretariat Kelab UMNO Luar Negara (KULN) FB Sekretariat KULN, pucuk kepimpinan WUC sesi 2011/2012 telah pun menjalankan Kursus Kepimpinan Gerak Kerja Kelab UMNO Wellington 2011.Kursus diadakan selama 3 hari 2 malam iaitu bermula pada 28 Disember - 30 Disember 2011 di Villa D'Rimba, Hulu Langat, Selangor. Kursus disertai oleh 16 orang ahli kelab termasuk 4 orang daripada UMNO Auckland. Untuk pengetahuan, kursus ini bertujuan untuk membincangkan aktiviti-aktiviti WUC yang akan diadakan sepanjang tahun 2012. Turut menjadi objektif kursus ialah mengeratkan silaturrahim antara ahli kelab. Malkumlah baru dilantik, dan masih mencari keserasian untuk berkolaborasi. Semua peserta berkumpul di Menara Dato' Onn, PWTC sebelum menaiki van UMNO ke Villa D'Rimba. Kursus dimulakan dengan sesi pendaftaran peserta.

Selesai sesi pengenalan diri, kursus diteruskan dengan slot bersama Datuk Kamal Haji Muhammad, Mantan Pengurus Besar Tabung Haji. Alhamdulillah, slot bersama Datuk sangat padat dengan informasi terutama mengenai tujuan hidup manusia. Sesungguhnya 'makanan rohani' ini sangat penting untuk kita selalu mengingati Maha Pencipta walau di mana kita berada.

Jam 5 petang semua peserta beriadah. Yang menariknya, Villa ini menyediakan tasik untuk berkayak, memancing dan sebagainya.

Pada sebelah malam, sesi gerak kerja dimulakan dengan taklimat ringkas oleh Saudara Presiden, Addy.

Peserta dibahagikan kepada 3 kumpulan kecil untuk menyiapkan 3 proposal aktiviti terbesar WUC untuk tahun 2012. Ahli UMNO Auckland menjadi fasilitator untuk setiap kumpulan. Hari pertama kursus tamat pada jam 11 malam.

Why I deserve to win: I have graduated in my BSC Mathematics last December and currently studying for my BSc Hons (Mathematics). Other than my academic achievement, I have also participated in a lot of extra-curricular activities, namely:

1)Cultural Forums (2010-2011): I have participated as panelists in few forums on cultural integration organized by Victoria International and MSC (Malaysian Student Council).

2) UN Youth Aotearoa New Zealand (2008-2011) - As member of UNYANZ, I participated as delegate in Model Asean Regional Forum 2010 as well as became the conference assistant (twice), and logistics coordinator (once).

3) VUW Swords Club (2010-2011) - Executive members of the fencing club. I learnt the martial art that is completely new to me and help around with organizing competitions.

4) Wellington UMNO Club (2008,2009,2011) - Secretary for one of the Malaysian club in Wellington.

5) Homework Club (2009-2010)- The club runs by Wellington Somali Council (NGO) to facilitate helps for refugee background high-school students. I volunteered as a tutor there.

6) Campus Coaches (2010) - guide and help new students for a smoother transition in campus and monitor their needs during their first month at uni.

7) Muslim Students of VUW Club (2009) - As the Cultural Council Representatives, I was responsible to connect Muslim students at university, regardless of our cultural backgrounds. Other experiences: I have also worked as a fruit packer in Roxburgh, Central Otago and lived with wonderful kiwis over there for about 1 and half month. I am also blessed to have an adopted kiwi family which is very loving and caring towards me. Of course, there are many other experiences that I cannot possibly list them in details here. I cherish my cultural experience in New Zealand very much. Getting involved with the Kiwi to me doesn't only mean to get to know the Maori or Pakeha but also about learning the "Kiwi culture" , namely the lifestyle of Kiwi that is much tolerant and compassionate to others, including the international person (like me), the refugees, and the people from different faith(namely the New Zealanders attitude towards Muslims).

KUCHING: Barisan Nasional (BN) berjaya mengekalkan penguasaan dua pertiga kerusi Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Sarawak apabila berjaya memenangi 55 kerusi daripada 71 kerusi pada pilihan raya negeri ke-10, Sabtu.

BN kini boleh membentuk kerajaan negeri.

Sementara pakatan pembangkang memperoleh 15 kerusi sementara Bebas hanya berjaya memenangi satu kerusi.

Future leaders of Malaysia: Are We Ready?

First of all, I would like to thank all of our members for joining Wellington UMNO Club (WUC). Your supports and passions are much appreciated.Allow me to take you down to memory lane when WUC was established few years ago. The founders of the WUC aimed to make this Club as a platform for a capacity building to groom members to become future leaders of Malaysia. I really hope that we can make their noble dreams a reality. Apart from that I wish that we can learn together on how best we can contribute for the betterment of our nation.

In ever increasingly global challenges and competitiveness, it is very important for us to keep abreast with national agenda. With the launching of Government Transformation Programmes announced by the Prime Minister a couple of years ago, Government is striving to make Malaysia a high income country and to secure developed nation status in a near future.

And, we are part of that future! In other words, the success of the above agenda is more or less depends on us.

Perhaps, we will ask ourselves, why us? We are just students!

Yes, we are students. But the fact that we are students makes this argument all the more important and significant. We are here, in the Kiwi land, as students because Government has adopted a policy that shift away from investment in bricks and mortars to investment in people. It is a prerequisite in achieving knowledge driven economic prosperity which is so reliant to professional human resources. That is why human resources have to be developed through proper education and training so this ‘competitive advantage’ will contribute to the development of the nation.

This may trigger another argument among us. Yes, we know that but it can wait until we graduated. There is no time for that now. This is a perfect time for us to have fun and to fall in love. We are not into serious stuffs yet!While I must admit that I absolutely agree that youth life is meant to enjoy the life (I was young too!), but it is also a critical phase of our life to nurture, develop, shape and form our ideology, belief and view about what happens around us and our world.

Believe me, the world belongs to young people. There are so many exciting stories about young people who creating history after history. In every stream of life there are young heroes that we can look for inspiration (thank you to Tukar Tiub aka Hishamudin Rais for opening my eyes on this topic. Even we are not on the same political page, but credit must be given where credit is due).

The Beatles and Sex Pistols were teenagers when they started their revolution in music industry. The same goes to Nirvana who improvised the rebellious kind of music that caught the world by surprise.

In football, Pele and Maradona started to dominate the world when they were very young. Ryan Giggs terrorized the footb all pitch when he was 17 years old (and after 20 years, he is amazingly still doing that).

The ICT era that we are in now has been shaped by the young geeks. Bill Gates, Jerry Yang and Mark Zukerberg, to name a few, were just undergraduate students when they started redrawing the world boundaries.

In political arena, there are a lot of young warriors. Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Che Guevara, Sun Yat Sen, Mahatma Ghandi, Bhagat Singh and Hasan al-Banna – all of them started to fight for the cause that they believed when they were very young.Islamic history too doesn’t lack of these young icons. Umar Abdul Aziz was just 25 years old when he reformed the corrupt system of Bani Umayyah. Muhammad al-Fateh, who had been predicted in the Hadith, conquered the Constantinopole at the age of 21. The four great Imams – all of them showed their sign of intelligence since their early years. And the list goes on…

So, there is no excuse for us to ignore our responsibilities to our nation just because we are still young.

The world is upon us. The platform (WUC) has been provided for us. Let’s learn and work together for the better future of Malaysia. In WUC, we obviously seek your support, your assistance, your ideas, your scrutiny and criticism. With passion, big dream and hard work, I believe we will.

Pendaftaran Ahli dan Pelancaran Logo Baru Kelab UMNO Wellington

Pada 20 Mac 2011, Kelab UMNO Wellington telah membuka peluang kepada pelajar-pelajar baru untuk mendaftar sebagai ahli kelab. Sambutan amat menggalakkan setelah seramai 70 orang pelajar telah mendaftar. Pada hari tersebut juga, Kelab UMNO Wellington telah melancarkan logo baru. Majlis ini telah diadakan bersama-sama ketika Wellington Malaysian Students Organization (WMSO) mengadakan inaugural general meeting (IGM) di Everton Hall. MALAYSIAN students studying overseas are not compelled to register with our agencies, but doing so would enable the government to make contingency plans in case of emergencies.

“It was lunchtime and I was having a meal when in a flash everything went topsy-turvy. I dashed out thinking I was going to die, but once I reached out of the building, my instincts told me that this was a massive quake and I should inform the Malaysian Students Association to tell them I was alive and well.

“I knew the phone lines would soon be disrupted and quickly called Education Malaysia (EM) New Zealand director Dr Rosli Mohammed in Wellington, just to let him know about the quake and that I was okay. Then I made brief phone calls to all my close friends to see if they were fine,” he says.

Muhammad is perhaps one of the few Malaysian students in the country registered with EM, (formerly known as Malaysian Students’ Department (MSD)). It is a representative organisation for students in nations where there is a large Malaysian student cohort.

In fact many students not only in New Zeland but in countries like Egypt, Japan and Australia, have not registered with EM or with the Malaysian missions abroad.

Their failure to do so will only make it difficult for the Malaysian government to trace them and make emergency arrangements when a major calamity befalls a nation that they are in.

Presently, students studying overseas are encouraged to register with the Malaysian embassies, high commissions, consulates or EM centres, but they are not compelled to do so.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has urged students overseas to register with any of these Malaysian authorities as it would make it easier to locate them should there be a natural disaster or unrest in the country.

The ministry, he adds, only has a database of government-sponsored students.

He says that the ministry has set up a website for students to register themselves but many have not done so.

In cases of emergency or natural disasters, EM Dr Rosli who is based in the New Zealand capital of Wellington, says staff will communicate with students who have registered with it via e-mail, Facebook or other social media, telephone or through the short messaging system (SMS).

“We do receive support from the International Office of universities to advise all Malaysian students to register with us but at the same time, it is hard for the institutions themselves to provide us with their names due to the country’s Privacy Act.

“We advise and appeal to parents to convince their children to register in case of disaster or emergencies,” he explains.

EM Australia Sydney education attaché Ahmad Sabri Mohamad concurs, voicing his frustration on the lack of awareness among Malaysian students about the importance of registering with these agencies.

“As a result, many students studying overseas are unaccounted for, and it is an uphill task to trace them when we need to check on their status when anything happens ,” he says.

Citing the floods in Queensland last December as an example, Ahmad Sabri says Malaysian students only came forward to register after disaster struck.

He adds that EM Australia has for several years allowed students to register online. Dr Rosli says the EM centre had worked on a standard operating procedure (SOP) for dealing with emergencies following the earthquake which struck Christchurch with a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale last September.

“There is a need for us to be proactive and have the SOP as the country faces the risk of earthquakes and we want students to understand what they need to do in case of a crisis,” he adds.

In fact, Dr Rosli explains item six on the last page of the (Malaysian) passport states that Malaysian citizens residing abroad must register their name and latest address at the Malaysian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate office.

Higher Education Ministry director-general Prof Dr Rujhan Mustafa says that most Malaysians fail to adhere to the requirement although it is the responsibility of each Malaysian citizen to do so.

Although students may view registration as a hassle – or an invasion of privacy, at worst – they must be aware that others bear the brunt of the stress in pressing times.

And often, it is their parents who are at their wits’ end.

Prof Rujhan himself was on the receiving end of many an angry phone call prior to Ops Piramid.

“In tense moments, parents may sometimes get emotional and vent their frustrations,” he says.

“I heard them out and asked them to SMS the necessary details – their child’s name; varsity; year; programme and phone number – as soon as they hung up.

“We then established contact with the respective students.”

Saving lives

Although students are encouraged to register with the relevant agencies, many might not realise the importance or the need to do so.

Second-year communications student at RMIT University, Australia, Wong Chee Mun is perplexed the government does not provide students with a “how-to” guide to register at its mission, after its hype about encouraging students to do so.

“I tried to register with the High Commission but gave up because of the long distance between my university in Melbourne and its office in Canberra,” says the 20-year-old who eventually registered with the EM website.

Prof Rujhan says self-funded students generally do not usually register as opposed to government-sponsored students. And this complicates matters in moments of crises like the aftermath of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

“Less than 50% of our students were registered with the embassy,” he says.

“The Malaysian Students’ Association in Japan recently said that only 300 of the 2,465 Malaysian students there were traced and this shows that people need to take registration more seriously.

“They should also make an effort to alert the Malaysian embassy and students’ associations – or at least their parents – on their whereabouts, if they’re moving about during the holidays.”

An even bigger quagmire occurred in Egypt during former president Hosni Mubarak’s final days as only over 1,000 Malaysian students were registered from a total of 11,319!

Prof Rujhan feels that although Ops Piramid – the rescue exercise which airlifted 8,341 Malaysians, mostly students – was a success, the lack of contact information could have hampered the evacuation effort.

“The MSD in Egypt only had five staff looking after about 11,000 students and they were really working against the odds,” he adds.

The director-general says that even after all that happened – including the formation of a call centre to collect student information – only over 7,000 students had done so.

Responding to grouses from students who had faced difficulty in registering, Prof Rujhan says the ministry will check and act on any complaints.

“If it’s really happening on the ground, we will improve things.

“I would like to advise all private or self-funded students overseas to register with our EM centres or MSDs and if you’re discouraged from doing so, report the officers who said it was unnecessary and we will act on the complaints,” he explains.

Pointing out that parents often had vital information, Prof Rujhan suggests that parents register on behalf of their children.

In this case, they could rest assured that the relevant authorities would be in touch with their children in times of crises.

“It makes sense as parents are often more worried than their children when things go wrong,” he says.

The director-general’s views are shared by the ministry’s director of education promotions, Dr Syed Alwee Shekh Alsagoff, who is responsible for managing all EM centres and MSDs.

Emphasising that parents often had relevant information on their children’s whereabouts, Dr Syed Alwee says they (parents) can serve as an additional “layer of safety”.

Doing their part

Thanks to the close rapport between our embassy’s Student Affairs Department and the Malaysian student associations in Russia, the registration process of Malaysian students runs smoothly most of the time.

“Malaysian students’ associations are set up in all Russian universities which have a sizeable Malaysian student population,” says Mohd Farhan Mohd Faiz Wilson Yeo, 24, who is the Malaysian Students Association representative from I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.

Upon their arrival in Russia, he says students are encouraged to join the association, which in turn compiles their data for the embassy.

On the Moscow Metro Kultury Park suicide bomb blasts in March last year, Mohd Farhan says student leaders took the responsibility of checking on the status of other students and relayed the information back to the Student Affairs Department in the embassy.

Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) master’s in public management student Muhammad Muammar Gadaffi Omar says students are regularly reminded to register with the EM.

“We also organise orientation programmes for students and one session is on the need to register with the EM,” says Muhammad Muammar who is also VUW Malaysian Students Council president.

United Kingdom and Eire (Ireland) Council for Malaysian Students (UKEC) chairman Farquar Haqqani Fadhlullah Suhaimi says all Malaysian students are encouraged to register with the EM centre and can also do so online.

“It is not compulsory but it is highly encouraged, and UKEC works to assist EM in getting students to register, primarily through the respective Malaysian Societies and Malaysian Students Association of all the universities around the UK and Eire,” he adds.

Farquar Haqqani who is a second year Economics student at Warwick University, says UKEC publishes Blurb! which is distributed to students at pre-departure briefings, and is a comprehensive overview of life as a student in the UK including information on registering with the EM and how to contact the High Commission.

Although news on political upheavals and natural disasters happening around the world have been making the headlines recently, Sandy Tan who is enrolled in a twinning programme at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, says she does not think that disaster could strike at her doorstep.

She says the Malaysian Embassy had sent out the message to encourage students to register through a survey conducted on Malaysian students in her university recently.

“Students from Malaysia have a strong support network here as we can seek help from a local university staff member, who’s been assigned to look after our needs,” she says.

“The earthquake struck on Feb 22, which was supposed to be the Malaysian Students’ Association’s “club day’ but we had to postpone it earlier due to the rain. After the earthquake, a head count of all Malaysian students was done, and the information was relayed to Dr Rosli,” says association president Poh Eng Eu.

Final year Otago University medical student Marcus Lee was having lunch at the hospital cafeteria when the earthquake struck.

He spent the first day helping out at the gynaecology ward and the emergency department of the local hospital.

After the mayhem, Marcus alerted the Malaysian High Commission of his status through the Facebook group, Christchurch Earthquake: Message for all Malaysian students in Christchurch. To ascertain the whereabouts and safety of the international students, Canterbury University pro-vice-chancellor (student services and international) Dr Nello Angerilli says the university issued directives asking students to fill up a web form it set up, with nearly 1,200 responses.

“As the university did not have the capacity to contact the families of the international students, the students were urged to do so themselves and also to register their presence with their respective missions as they would handle all enquiries,’’ he says, adding that the Canterbury University Earthquake Recovery page on Facebook served as an interactive forum to answer questions from students and post links to important information.

Hasil kutipan amal bagi mangsa gempa bumi di Christchurch

Assalamualaikum dan Salam sejahtera

Pada hari Rabu, bersamaan 9 March 2011, wakil UMNO iaitu Presidnt UMNO, Muammar Gadafi, Ketua Penerangan UMNO, Izzy dan wakil dari Malaysian Student Council, Shazril telah menyampaikan kutipan derma yang diadakan pada hari Jumaat bersamaan 4 March 2011 kepada Cik Ayuni Zainal Abidin, Setiausaha Pertama, Malaysian High Comm dengan disaksikan oleh Dr Rosli Mohamed, Pengarah MSD pada petang tadi. Beliau berjanji akan menyalurkan derma tersebut kepada pelajar Malaysia yang memerlukan di Christchurch dengan sebaik-baiknya.

Kami turut mendengar beberapa pengalaman yang dilalui oleh Dr Rosli dan Cik Ayuni ketika penguruskan ppara pelajar di Christchurch sesama kejadian gempa bumi baru-baru ini..

Sukacita saya memaklumkan bahawa kutipan derma yang kita lancarkan pada Jumaat, 4 Mac 2011 lalu berjumlah NZD620.00, SGD2.00, EURO100.00, AUD0.25 dan RM0.20..

Beliau dan Dr Rosli turut melahirkan rasa terima kasih atas sikap dermawan dan prihatin rakan-rakan pelajar semua. Semoga amalan baik ini akan terus dipraktikkan pada masa akan datang..

Majlis solat hajat dan panduan kecemasan (SOP)

Pada hari Jumaat, bersamaan 4 March 2011, telah diadakan satu majlis solat hajat untuk mengelakkan bencana alam, sekaligus bagi memperingati dan memusahabah diri jikalau sebarang kajadian yang tak diingini berlaku. Majlis bertempatkan di Everton Hall.

Selepas solat hajat, taklimat panduan kecemasan bagi sebarang kejadian yang tidak diingini, khususnya gempa bumi diberikan oleh Presiden Umno, Muammar Gadaffi.

Beberapa langkah-langkah keselamatan telah diambil kira khususnya pembahagian kawasan wellington kepada beberapa "check points", supaya proses pengumpulan nama-nama pelajar dapat dilakukan dengan mudah dan pantas jikalau kajadian gempa bumi berlaku di Wellington.

Sesi taklimat turut disampaikan oleh Lt.Col Ahmad Faeizzalan (Penasihat pertahanan di STM). pengalaman beliau semasa bertugas di Christchurh, bagi kejadian gempa bumi baru-baru ini turut di kongsi bersama pelajar-pelajar. Teknik mengelakkan panik turut dikongsi.

Been busy with Uni's life these past few days tapi best, seronok and adventure because Victoria University of Wellington adakan macam-macam activities untuk orientation week and semua nya best sangat-sangat.Rugi if any of you tak join the activities. Lepas ni mesti cover up the faces with the sorrow looks, books, assignments, tutorial, and labs sessions. Oh come on, baru first week semua dah senget-senget mulut comments semua benda. Chill k. Enjoy-enjoy sikit sebab second week dah kena start to get serious with your studies.Hectic life.Yeah!

Peringatan kecemasan

Salam dan selamat sejahtera rakan-rakan pelajar Malaysia di Wellington,

Laporan berita telah banyak menyebut bahawa kemungkinan besar Wellington pula yang akan dilanda gempa bumi bukan satu perkara mustahil.

Sehubungan itu, saya bagi pihak Malaysian Students Council (MSC) ingin mengingatkan rakan-rakan semua agar membuat persediaan awal sekiranya bencana ini berlaku (berdoalah siang malam agar ia tidak terjadi). Antara keperluan yang perlu disediakan adalah seperti berikut:

Dokumen-dokumen penting yang perlu di simpan bawah kawalan pelajar

o Sijil lahir/passport/lesen memandu

o Sijil persekolahan/Transkrip peperiksaan

o Gambar keluarga

Keperluan makanan

o Keperluan air untuk tiga hari

o Keperluan makanan/bahan mentah untuk tiga hari

o Bahan kegunaan peribadi harian

Kit Kecemasan

o Bateri/lampu suluh

o Radio/telefon bimbit (make sure credit ada, jika tidak top up sekarang)

o Selimut/sleeping bag

Tolong pastikan keperluan di atas dimasukkan di dalam satu beg dan letakkan berhampiran rakan-rakan terutama bila tidur di waktu malam.

Di pihak MSC, kami akan mengedarkan standard operating procedure menghadapi bencana alam sedikit masa lagi yang antara lain mengandungi nombor perhubungan setiap wakil kariah yang dilantik MSC untuk rakan-rakan berhubung dan tempat berkumpul jika tidak tahu ke mana hendak pergi.

Kerjasama dan perhatian rakan-rakan berkenaan perkara di atas amat dihargai.

Earthquake strikes Christchurch, yet to do list when nature disaster hits you

Sad news, yet we must take into actions of certain things that need to highlighted in case this unwanted disaster strike our land. 107 Pilot Whales Dead on New Zealand Beach

STEWART ISLAND, NEW ZEALAND— More than a hundred whales have died on a remote New Zealand Island.

All members of a pod of 107 pilot whales died after they were stranded on the beach near Cavalier Creek on Stewart Island off of the southern tip of New Zealand's South Island. Officials had to euthanize 48of the 107 whales.

The whales were found by hikers on Sunday.

Menyambut juniors

Salam semua. Weather forecast this week semua cerah-cerah je! Barulah Summer! Today entry is about sesi menyambut juniors from Mara and JPA dari saya, selaku wakil Umno. From IPSAH wakil UMNO tak berkesempatan nak menyambut kerana mereka tiba di airport lewat malam. Saya tidak sempat sambut, maaf dihulurkan. Minta maaf bahasa saya campur-campur sikit, saja nak kasi mood "chill-chill". Kadang-kadang saya akan gunakan bahasa formal kalau event tersebut formal, dan kadang-kadang bahasa campuran supaya blog ini lebih friendly dan mudah di baca pelajar-pelajar. Blog Umno kali ini akan lebih bersikap santai/ formal.

Back to the story, ketibaan mereka lewat, kami sudah tiba di lapangan terbang pada pukul 3.30 pm tapi mereka tiba pada pukul 7 p.m. Kesian tak kamiii! Kesian kan ! Tapi tak pe. Demi adik-adik, kakak-kakak dan abang-abang tegar menunggu. Menunggu sambil makan fish and chips. Lihatlah gelagat kami menunggu adik-adik juniors.

Ceria betul Tuan Pres kita

Pada malam Ahad, bersamaan 13 February 2011, telah diadakan Majlis Makan Malam bersama Timbalan Keteua Setiausaha Kementerian Penerangan Komunikasi dan Kebudayaa, Datuk Dr. Mohamad Ali Mohd Nor , Ketua Pegawai Esekutif Pos Malaysia, Datuk Syed Faisal Albar, pegawai-pegawai kementerian yang lain dan juga para pelajar di Wellington, New Zealand.

Majlis makan malam bertemakan konsep "Jalinan kemesraan bersama rakyat" turut di selitkan dengan sesi soal jawab dari wakil pelajar PhD, khususnya Presiden Kelab UMNO Wellington Amar Ghadafi bersama pegawai-pegawai Jabatan Kementerian. Majlis makan malam bertempatkan di Restoran Istana Malaysia. Anggaran sebanyak 100 tetamu telah menjayakan Majlis Makan Malam ini.

Baru-baru ini, Rugby Sevens diadakan di Wellington, New Zealand.Perarakan setiap pasukan rugby diadakan di sepanjang Lambon Quay dan Courtney Place (jalan di bandar Wellington). Rugby Sevens diadakan setiap tahun dan berpusat di Wellington. Sukan rugby bukanlah asing lagi di New Zealand kerana pasukan All Blacks sentiasa mendapat perhatian tatkala beraksi di padang mahupun di khayalak ramai. Rugby sevens merupakan sukan rugby yang menggunakan 7 orang pemain instead of 15 pemain. Untuk keterangan lebih lanjut, saya lampirkan definition dar wikipedia:

Rugby sevens, also known as seven-a-side or simply 7's, is a variant of rugby union in which teams are made up of seven players, instead of the usual 15, with shorter matches. The game originated in Melrose, Scotland, where the Melrose Sevens tournament is still played annually. The game is popular at all levels, with amateur and club tournaments generally held in the summer months. Sevens is one of the most well distributed forms of rugby, and is popular in parts of Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and especially in the South Pacific.^[2]

Assalamualaikum dan salam sejahtera kepada semua.2011 telah membuka lembaran yang baru kepada kita semua.Semoga semua pembaca akan mendapat keredhaan Allah SWT dalam apa jua biudang yang diceburi. Pertama kalinya saya ingin menyusun sepuluh jari untuk memohon maaf kerana lambat memberikan sebarang info mengenai perjalanan karier UMNO di sini. Umum sudah mengetahui mengenai keadaan politik di Tenang.Maka disini saya ingin menglampirkan berita kemenangan barisan pimpinan UMNO melalu berita yang dipetik dari UMNO online.

LABIS, 30 Jan – Barisan Nasional (BN), mencapai kemenangan dalam Pilihan Raya Kecil (PRK) Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Tenang menerusi calonnya Mohd Azahar Ibrahim, dengan majoriti 3,707.

Mohd Azahar mendapat undi 6,699 sementara calon Pas, Normala Sudirman memperoleh 2,992 manakala undi rosak142.

Pengumuman dibuat di Pusat Penjumlahan Undi di Dewan Serbaguna Majlis Daerah Labis oleh Pegawai Pengurus PRK.

Proses pengundian bagi kerusi PRK DUN Tenang, dibuka pukul 8 pagi dan ditutup pukul 5 petang ini melibatkan 12 pusat pengundian.

Pilihan raya kecil itu diadakan berikutan penyandang Datuk Sulaiman Taha, 59, meninggal dunia pada 17 Disember tahun lepas akibat jangkitan kuman dalam darah dan kencing manis. – MediaUMNO

LABIS, 30 Jan – Kemenangan Barisan Nasional (BN) pada pilihanraya kecil Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Tenang dengan majoriti lebih tinggi merupakan bukti rakyat menerima kepimpinan Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Timbalan Perdana Menteri Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin berkata dasar yang dilaksanakan kerajaan pimpinan Perdana Menteri telah diterima baik oleh rakyat pelbagai kaum di negara ini.

“Ia adalah kemenangan yang membuktikan penerimaan rakyat pelbagai kaum terhadap kepimpinan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman di negeri ini.

“Dasar-dasar oleh Perdana Menteri seperti Gagasan 1Malaysia, GTP (Program Transformasi Kerajaan) dan ETP (Program Transformasi Ekonomi) telah disambut dengan baik oleh rakyat semua kaum,” katanya pada sidang akhbar selepas calon BN diumumkan memenangi pilihan raya itu di Dewan Serbaguna Majlis Daerah Labis malam ini.

Pada pilihan raya kecil DUN Tenang yang berlangsung hari ini, Mohd Azahar Ibrahim, 39, yang memperoleh 6,699 undi menewaskan calon Pas Normala Sudirman, 38, yang hanya memperoleh 2,992 undi.

Walaupun peratusan yang keluar mengundi pada pilihan raya kecil DUN Tenang hanya 67 peratus, namun majoriti yang diperoleh calon BN ialah 3,707 undi, dan jumlah ini jauh lebih banyak berbanding 2,492 undi yang diperoleh pada Pilihan Raya Umum 2008.

Muhyiddin berkata BN akan meneruskan usaha bagi meningkatkan keyakinan rakyat pelbagai kaum terhadapnya.

Selain itu, Timbalan Perdana Menteri berharap trend kemenangan BN pada pilihan raya kecil akhir-akhir ini, termasuk di DUN Tenang hari ini, mampu diteruskan pada pilihan raya kecil DUN Merlimau 6 Mac ini.

Mengenai kemerosotan jumlah undi yang diperoleh calon Pas, beliau berkata keputusan di DUN Tenang merupakan bukti jelas bahawa parti pembangkang itu ditolak rakyat Johor.

“Dari segi sejarah, Pas sememangnya tidak mempunyai tempat di hati rakyat Johor. Keputusan hari ini hanya mengesahkan bahawa Pas ditolak oleh rakyat negeri ini,” katanya.

Beliau berkata kemenangan BN hari ini dengan majoriti yang kian meningkat juga membuktikan bahawa Johor kekal sebagai kubu kuat parti pemerintah itu.

Assalamualaikum dan Selamat Sejahtera...

Alhamdulillah, dengan izin-Nya Kelab UMNO Wellington baru sahaja melalui proses transisi kepimpinan bagi sesi 2010-2011. Saya percaya dengan sokongan Ahli Jawatankuasa yang lain, pihak kedutaan dan rakan-rakan pelajar semua, kita mampu bekerja bersama-sama untuk membawa Kelab UMNO Wellington ke arah yang lebih gemilang.

Saya sangat yakin Kelab UMNO Wellington adalah wadah yang amat sesuai untuk kita gunakan sebagai pemangkin kecemerlangan akademik sebagai pelajar, pembangunan kapasiti sebagai bakal pemimpin masa depan negara dan pemupukan ukhuwah yang mantap sebagai rakyat Malaysia yang setia.

At the same time, in this increasingly ever changing environment and global challenges and competitiveness, it is important for us to keep abreast with national agenda to transform our nation into high-income country and secure global recognition as a developed nation in near future. Government has done a lot in achieving that vision including the adoption of a policy that shift away from investment in bricks and mortar to investment in people. One of the direct result and inevitable output of that policy is the opportunity for us to pursue our tertiary education here. Now, it is our responsibility to achieve the outcomes of that policy by improving and enhancing our capacity and capability so that we can contribute enormously when we go home.

In this context, UMNO Club Wellington believes it can contribute something meaningful. But, we can’t do this alone. We seek your support, your assistance, your understanding, your engagement, and your scrutiny and criticisms. The UMNO Club Wellington is determined to continue the legacy of passion, big dreams and hard work, convinced that in partnership and mutual support amongst us, we will, God Willing, achieve.

Cara-cara untuk menghargai kerajaan (Ini bukan suggestions macam karangan tingkatan 3, serious!)

1- Belajar sekuat hati, serious, jangan suka gelak-gelak dan bersembang masa belajar.Focus and belajar all out.

2- Bersemangat pergi University, jangan malas ponteng kelas.

3- Kutip seberapa banyak pengalaman dan terapkan yang BAIK dan BERNAS di Malaysia

4- Berkhidmat di Malaysia dengan jaya

5- Elakkan rusuhan yang ntah ape-ape dan tiada tujuan.Tak payah elaklah, banned terus.

6-Promote Malaysia di masyarakat asing.Jangan kutuk Malaysia.Apelah, kutuk negara sendiri.Macam u alls kutuk diri sendiri pulak.

7-Bersukan.Jangan malas.Nanti kalau sakit cepat, sapa nak bangunkan Malaysia???

8- Buat benda yang banggakan Malaysia di mata asing.

Walaupun ramai yang kata New Zealand boring, tapi semua mesti nangis-nangis lepas tu rindu dekat Wellington bila balik nanti.Kalau tak percaya, nanti bila dah graduate, ha, tengoklah sendiri.

Jadi saya rasa, kita semua mestilah "live to the fullest" dekat sini, belajar, enjoy, and involve dalam semua activities yang dibuat.Sebab-sebab korang semua kene join, meh saya listkan ye.:

1- Akan dapat ramai kawan

2- Bergembira dan tak rasa homesick sangat

3- Banyak gambar akan di tag di facebook(I loike)

4- Dapat banyak ilmu baru

5- Dapat kumpul banyak kenangan manis, pahit atau apa-apa je kenangan, nanti balik Malaysia boleh rasa rindu

6- Tak dianggap anti-social

7- Skill komunikasi dapat di asah

Sebenarnya banyak dapat di kutip masa join semua activities.

Sadly, saya tak dapat listkan activities Umno because buku tu dekat Fenab (Setiausaha Umno).Jadi lepas dapat buku tu, saya update activities ok.

Pengerusi bagi Umno sesi 2009/2010 ialah Khirol Azuddin atau lebih dikenali sebagai Khirol.Khirol masih lagi meneruskan pengajian di dalam bidang Tesl, tahun kedua di Victoria University.Seorang yang peramah, penyabar, cepat mesra, bertanggungjawab,berkepimpinan dan tegas.Tak lupa juga seorang yang pembersih.Prinsip Khirol ialah walau apa pun yang berlaku, kerja@ tugasan mesti siap.

Naib Pengerusi ialah Norlina Hamidon atau nama manjanya, Lina.Walau raut wajah nampak tegas,Lina penyanyang orangnya, tidak mudah perputus asa dan rajin memasak.Sentiasa berkeyakinan tinggi dan bersemangat di dalam setiap situasi.Lina sedang meneruskan pengajian dalam bidang Mathematics di tahun ketiga.

Siapa yang mencatit segala nota semasa mensyuarat?Mestilah Setiausahakan.Takkan Bendahari kot.Fatin Nabilah Abu Bakar merupakan setiausaha sulit yang penuh berdedikasi mencatit, membuat draf ketika mesyuarat.Tak perlu panggil Fatin Nabila (begitu panjang ye) hanya panggil Fenab sahaja.Mudah dan mesra gitu.

Siapa yang nak kumpul duit?Itulah tugas Hazim, panggil sahaja Hazim.Tiada nama timang-timangan.Masih belajar dalam bidang Mathematics di tahun kedua.Seorang yang periang dan peramah serta suka menjalinkan persaudaraan sesama kita.

Yang terakhir, tak lain dan tak bukan seorang PR yang terlampau ceria, banyak cakap dan kelam-kabut tapi si sebalik tu baik hati, ya inilah Nur Izdihar Azman atau boleh panggil Izzy saja.Izzy ialah pelajar jurusan Bioteknologi di tahun kedua.Sentiasa senyum, "camera alert" tetapi pemalu.Sesiapa yang mempunyai masalah berhubung apa-apa sahaja dari segi peribadi atau "public" jangan segan silu berjumpa dengan Izzy.

Oleh itu kepada sesiap yang inginkan apa-apa, jangan malu-malu menghubungi kami ye.

Ya, seperti yang telah di gembar gemburkan, Kelab Umno Wellington semakin maju dari selangkah demi selangkah.Nampaknya tidak terlambat lagi untuk kami ahli umno mengucapkan selamat datang @ kia ora kepada semua pelajar-pelajar tahun pertama yang baru mendaftar.

Beginilah cuaca di wellington, walaupun cahaya matahari terik membakar kulit namun angin di wellington sentiasa di luar jangkaan.Oleh itu saya berharap para pelajar semua pandai menjaga kesihatan diri, pakai pakaian yang sesuai dengan cuaca dan sentiasa menjaga tubuh badan.Oh ya, jangan lupa bersenam! Maklumlah Wellington terkenal dengan "chocolate" yang ranggup, banyak perisa, lazat and yes, tak lupa juga keju yang boleh dihiris-hiris kemudian dimakan begitu sahaja.

Justeru ye para pelajar tahun pertama sekalian, jangan risau kalau berat badan naik dalam 5-10 kg.Itu perkara normal, kalau ada sesiapa yang mengalami kemurungan berhubung hal ini, sila hubungi ahli jawatan kuasa Umno.Kami sedia membantu :)

About Us

Kelab UMNO Luar Negara Wellington (or simply, Wellington UMNO Club) was formed in October 2006. Founded by a team of four Malaysians led by Saudara Yusuf Ibrahim, the club was (and still is) intended to be a platform where Malaysians in general and Malays in particular get to put their heads together and equip themselves with community and political awareness.

Despite eliminating the ‘social-club’ title to its name, WUC implements all activities and agenda based on efficient and fun interaction among its members. Supported financially and legally by the Secretariat of UMNO Overseas Club in Kuala Lumpur, WUC has in the past hosted numerous educational, charity and network-building events and will continue to do so in the near and far future. This club also supports (and participate in, if possible) the agenda of UMNO Clubs all around the world, especially those in Australia and New Zealand.

In addition to that, we are affiliated closely with other Malaysian societies and work closely with the Malaysian High Commission in New Zealand. We are in no way competing with other Malaysian associations all over the country as our audience and objectives do not clash, in fact in some cases they might agree and this not only simplifies, but strengthens our ladder to a variety of achievements.

Members of WUC do not only include those who are still studying, instead we also welcome non-student Malaysians in Wellington. Do not forget to tell your friends about us as an interesting crowd always makes something merrier, more significant and fun!

We bid you a very warm welcome to the official website of Wellington UMNO Club (WUC). In hope that this site continues to capture your attention, we will endeavour in bringing you the latest updates, details on upcoming happenings and also photos taken during any of our events.

Aside from that, here we also welcome feedbacks and general comments on past events and things you would like to see happening for us Malaysians in Wellington. We would love to hear from you. So do not hold any of those valuable opinions back, do not just keep them to yourself! If you feel they would benefit us all, kindly voice them out. This club after all belongs to us, Malaysians in Wellington.
